Will this buff out?

Just got the car back from the body shop, again. Some of the paint was pinholing (or something that looked like that), so they sanded it a bit and polished it.

They did a decent job for the most part, but there are some spots of these on the half that they sanded. I don't know if these are from sanding or polishing. Lucking into it from above they don't look that deep, and I can't feel them with my finger nail.

I don't have a random orbital yet, but my dad is getting a megs one pretty soon for his car project.

Might be hard to tell but I figured it was worth a shot. I don't really want to take it back for a third time.

Are you referring to buffer trails? I think that is what I see by the fluorescent light

Yeah, look like buffer trails. I didn't know what they were before

I actually posted a follow up with a clearer image but it's waiting for mod approval.

But after searching it looks like this is easily repairable with a DA and the right stuff?

Yeah, you can smooth it out with a DA


Looks like you prolly do not need to take it back.

That just rotary buffer trails , A DA and Ultimate compound with a polishing pad will take care of it real quick

Are those reflections from your hand and camera , if not, you have holograms

Those look like pig tails from a dual-action buffer or possibly a sander, not rotary buffer trails, to me at least.

At any rate, you should be able to diminish and/or remove them with either Ultimate Compound or M105.

Sorry for the false info. I think Mark's right, they could be from sanding but either way, UC with DA will work

That actually looks more like "pig-tails" to me. Looks like some particulate became caught between the DA sander and the paint. It should buff right out though.

At any rate, you should be able to diminish and/or remove them with either Ultimate Compound or M105.

Those are pig tails, which are often pretty deep and difficult to remove. Start with the least aggressive method possible, but keep in mind that you will likely need to step up to a fairly aggressive polish/pad.

Sometimes they run so deep that sanding is the most effective method of removal.

Bummed to wake up and find out it's not buffer trails.

It was immediately on my mind this morning so I went out with what I had at the moment (scratch-x 2) and did some light rubbing.

It appears I slightly diminished the appearance of it but as you all have said this will likely require something more aggressive.

I'm a bit apprehensive in taking it back because they could just make it worse.
