  • Question on how long the wax should hold up

I will have two coats of NXT2.0 followed by a coat of #26 and was wondering how long i should be able to go before having to rewax if the car is only driven a couple times a week, No Rain, and is Garage kept?

    thanks

If your not driving it in rain and keeping it in the garage i would say maybe twice a year to a year??

No more than twice a year. You drive about as much as I do and I get rain and snow. That's about my schedule. If it is waxed in the Fall, there is little you can do with it till April. In the Great White North, anyway.

You may get 6 months out of it, but play it safe and wax 3 times a year under these conditions.

I just used NXT 2.0 on my new RAV4 for the first time. It's a daily driver, not garaged (my husband's woodworking tools are filling up the garage). So how often should I be waxing it? I am also using UQW every other week.

I started using NXT 2.0 about 3 months ago and was not sure what to expect re: longevity. Previously, I had used carnuba paste for many years and had a 2 month schedule. The car is a daily driver, and is garaged, but the Florida heat and and sun takes its toll on the wax. I am only applying one coat of NXT and except for the first time, do not top it with carnuba. This gives me a very satisfactory shine and surface feel. The problem is, I have gotten addicted to the just waxed look and feel of NXT and find myself waxing it once a month with a couple of UQW applications is between. For me, this is less work than 2 coats of NXT with a carnuba topping to get a longer lasting finish. I don't think three times a year would work in this environment.

With a quality synthetic wax like NXT, prolly 2-3 times a year would more than suffice. You could prolly utilize a 6 month interval in between applications of something durable such as NXT, but in order to keep up the cleanliness and fresh appearance of the paint, a 4 month interval would be better, especially if you are a wash and wax wacko.

I've utilized a 6 month interval with a good caranuba wax, and I still got beads, but this particular car is not a daily driver, and is garage kept. If I can get 6 months out of a caranuba, you certainly could go 6 months with a durable synthetic wax such as NXT, so the question would be... How much of a wash and wax wacko are you?
