  • Products used at Touchless Car Wash

I was driving by a local touchless car wash recently and saw that a shipment of products had just arrived. I took the opportunity to snap some photos of the barrels for informational purposes. Each product was in a 25-gallon container.

Here are some close-ups of the individual labels:

    Rim Job & Cherry Sealer....cute

"Blue Conditioner" is that for the drivers of Buick's?

/no offense to any Buick owners, as long as you don't regularly drive 10mph below the speed limit....

It's obvious that the titles were all made on a Friday afternoon... AFTER the bosses went home.

So does the Chery Sealer make your car smell like one big cherry .. (On second thought, D151 smells sooo goooood, but don't worry, I don't eat it, promise!)

Re: Products used at Touchless Car Wash

When I get a chance, I'm going to see if I can find the MSDS sheets on these products. I'd love to see the pH levels and all the other good (or should I say bad) stuff.

The heath hazard is 3 on most of those products. Most Meguiar's professional products fall in the 1 to 2 category, with Wheel Brightener being an exception at 3 and we all know how much we need to respect Wheel Brightener. Scary...

I know where I live, people don't shut their vehicles off when going through an autowash. Just imagine how much of that stuff gets into the cab of your vehicle, if you have the fan on.

This is a pretty interesting find. Scary, but interesting.

                      My immediate apologies.

People talk about touchless washes being harmful to the car's surface, but I haven't seen any actual information supporting that. My intention was to shed some light on the touchless wash theories.

Absolutely. We're fine with everyone discussing these products, and we're fine with you liking them or disliking them. Just remember that there is a right way and wrong way to be critical of a product, person or company.

Re: Products used at Touchless Car Wash

Touchless car washes are convenient. In many ways they much better for your vehicle than leaving salts and contaminants on your vehicle's surface. They do however have disadvantages.

They tend to be overly aggressive. A vehicle that needs 6 months worth of washing gets the same treatment as a vehicle that was washed 6 hours ago.

They are non selective in where high pressure water is blasted. With the newest laser washes they have improved, but they still have room for improvement. Often chemicals that are designed to be applied to wheels end up on body panels etc.

Touchless washes have their place in society. I'd use one daily, if I were a taxi cab driver etc.

Nothing beats the TLC of a hand wash. It's when you're washing your vehicle by hand that you notice the little things that would otherwise get overlooked.
