  • 1400 rpm too fast for scratch x?

I've learned in these forums that my craftsman orbital buffer wont cut it and hand polishing using Sx is better (why I dont know cause any machine you would think is better than hand) But I have an older 6" sander/polisher that has 2 speeds 1400 or 1650. I want to take out mild swirls on black 2001 bmw. Is 1400rpm too much for no experience? I do have an old beat up honda i can practice with...

ScratchX isn't officially recommended for use with a rotary buffer, maybe step up to the Professional Line?

There's a lot more to removing swirls using a rotary buffer than most people know... first you're going to want at least 2 different pads, a polishing pad an a finishing pad and that's a minimum.

Finishing out on black paint with an old school 2-speed rotary buffer at 1450 RPM will be quite a feat...

You would be a lot better off to invest in a Meguiar's G110v2 and some SMAT products if your serious.
