  • M07, clay and wax

    Hey all,

I had a quick question. I have a 2004 Mustang GT (Charcoal Gray) and I clayed it really nice but was going to put some GC Carnauba+ Wax on it. But then I thought the mirror look from claying would go away after I put the wax on. Is this true?

Another question is that if I were to go buy some M07 and top that off with GC Carnauba+ wax as well, would the wet look still appear from the polish or would i have to but some M26 instead of the GC to keep the polish showing.

BTW, I am waiting for a reply ASAP. The car is sitting in my garage. I did the first two steps of the paint clean system (wash, clay) and am waiting for your reply to continue.

    Thank You,

This might sound a little confusing. Just ask me if you need any more info.

Nope, the wax will only help. Of course if the paint needs some kind of cleaning, a cleaner or cleaner/wax and then the Gold Class would help even more.

The wax wont hide anything. #7 is a pure polish (just oils), so still no cleaning ability. Which wax you choose is just up to you.

The best looks would come from having the surface as perfect as possible (wash, clay, clean), and then adding some polishing oils, then waxing.

The quicker version would be wash, clay, cleaner/wax, wax.

Thank You. I just decided to go get some M07. I'll put the UC/Scratchx2.0 on the car and then the cleaner wax. Then the M07 followed by the GC Carnauba Wax. Sound Good?

Didn't mention UC in the first post... There will be no need to Cleaner/Wax after UC.

        Just go:

        1. Wash
        2. Clay
        3. Clean - UC, ScratchX, SwirlX, whichever you have/need.
        4. Polish - #7
        5. Wax - Gold Class or whatever you choose.
        6. Wax - 2 thin coats is best.

Thanks for that. That cleared up a lot of stuff. However, is two coats of wax really necessary if i am going to do this whole process every 2-3 weeks?

Well... probably not, but you probably don't need the whole process every 2 weeks either. You'll certainly want SwirlX, not UC for regular use. Claying may not be needed.

You'll just have to see. You may find that using UQW after a weekly wash gets you further.

And of course the option of a quicker detail like mentioned above with cleaner/wax then wax.
