  • Needing help removing tarnish or oxidation..

Hello, I"m needing some ideas on how to remove some caked on tarnish or oxidation from both the engine and my titanium wheels. I uploaded some photos one of each that show the problem on both the engine and wheels. On the engine, I've used water, wet sandpaper, conventional cleaner/degreaser and metal polish. And on the wheels I've used wheel cleaner, conventional cleaner/degreaser and so far I've had no luck getting the tarnish, the grime, the oxidation or whatever it is off the engine and wheels. But anyway, here are the links to the pics.

Thanks for your time guys, take care.

The wheels look painted. So using clay and a paint cleaner like SwirlX, U, etc would be next. If that doesn't do it, it could be a clear coat failing.

As for the engine... It doesn't look coated with anything, though someone with a Honda may have to say for sure. I have had my best luck recently getting a good shine with some Hot Rims Metal Polish applied with #0000 steel wool. Something you may do a test spot of on the back side...

Hello again, I tried the steel wool and chrome polish on the engine, it improved it tremendously and on the wheels I tried the clay bar and the ultimate compound, those however didn't work, but I then tried some mineral spirits and a wet scrub pad and that removed the spots on the wheels. Thank you for your help and take care.
