  • Need serious help?

Well so I bought a 2006 Acura TSX. It's red but the car's hood, roof, trunk and sides under the windows have turned a pinkish color. But it doesn't look like clear coat failure yet. But I am stuck on what products to use I was thinking NXT car wash and then using the clay bar kit to remove contamination. But this is where I'm stuck because the paint is pretty bad and I'm trying to bring the color back, but it's pretty faded. So should I use colorX or the ultimate compound? Which one is stronger? Or is there another product stronger then both of these to restore the color?

    Thank you.

I'd wash, then clay, then start with the ColorX. Even though your clear coat may "look" okay, it may not be providing the UV protection needed and the red underneath the clear coat may be faded.

Try the above and monitor your progress. Don't do the entire car, do a test section. Why do more work than necessary especially if working by hand. Really work a 1 foot by 1 foot test section and see if it's worth the effort.

It seems like everyone with red color cars can sometimes end up with them turning pink! Let us know how it goes and post up some pictures of your car. I am a Honda girl and would like to see it.

I would want SwirlX followed by Deep Crystal Polish, then waxing.

This is great advice. When working on a car in relatively extreme condition, as yours sounds to be, always do a test spot first and see where it gets you. If the color is as bad as you describe, we wouldn't be shocked if you needed something more aggressive than SwirlX - like Ultimate Compound.

Do you have any pictures of the paint at this point? A clear coat finish where the color has faded is generally not a good thing.
