Question regarding wheel wells

I show my car and this is a sore spot for me. The wheel wells are the same color as the car but they are very discolored. I use a soft sponge
to get into the area and wash it with soap. It never fully takes out the junk that gets built up in the wheel well which is easy to see because the car is not lowered. I have tried claying but it still doesn't seem to help.
Any products someone could suggest to use on this area. The front wheel wells are nicely covered with hard plastic so those are easy to detail but the back wells are driving me nuts.

Mine are all plastic, but my parents are plastic front, carpeted rear. What are you working on?

Here are pictures of the area that I was posting about. The car is a 2007 Honda Fit Sport.

This area is only in the rear wheel wells:







This area is visable to the judges since the car is not lowered. It hasn't hurt me so far this year just wondering if anyone has any suggestions to just get it cleaned up and maintained. I normally wash with soft brush and microfiber towel at the end of the wash and hose down really well. However it still never completely cleans it up.

It might not be the look your going for, but I sprayed the wheel wells on my car with "rubberized rockerguard" It comes in an aerosol can from Canadian tire, I'm sure it available in the states too. Makes the wheel well nice and black, then to clean just hose out and spray with tire cleaner foam.

Looks like a bad paint job under there. I don't think it will ever look "good". I too would recoat or paint the wheel wells....black in my opinion. Then they are easy to maintane. Spraying one of the tire no touch foam products on my wells makes them look like a new paint job. Just be sure to pull your car into the street to do this because the gunk running off can stain the driveway.

Have you tried something stronger then regular car wash? How about Bug and tar remover? Body solvent? I would try to use something stronger before you tried to repaint.

I'd try heavily soaking it with an All Purpose Cleaner, diluted for heavy duty use.

Get yourself a long handled wash brush (the blue ones Wal-Mart sells work well for this) and a bucket of car wash soap and water, properly diluted as well. Spray the wheel well out well with the hose. After you soak the wheel well with the APC, let it dwell for a minute, then start scrubbing well with the soap and water. Rinse well. You might have to give it a go a couple of times. If that doesn't work with the APC, you'll want to bump it up to a degreaser of sorts. This is how I clean my wheel wells, including on my DD, and they come out black every time. No dirt left over.

I will try the All Purpose Cleaner and see how that does. I actually have almost a full can of the black rubber spray that I got to to cover over a
tow hook. Thanks for the suggestions and I will let you know what worked.

I'd get a good brush and a quart of black rustoleum and paint them. If you choose to spray them, the paint will likely blow off with the pressure washer.
