Re: I need help about megs cleaner wax

Hi guys! Forgive me for resurrecting this thread but I just wanna ask if there's any curing time for any of the detailing products I'm gonna use?

I mean long curing time (1 hr - 24 hrs) before applying the next product.

Only for the Cleaner Wax and/or any other wax you're using.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

For the wax, it is nice to wait 15 min if possible, 24 hours for best looks.

Perhaps a clarification is needed about "curing time." It's important to make a distinction between (1) drying or set-up time and (2) curing time. The former refers to the time needed to allow a wax or sealant to dry before being buffed off. The latter refers to the time needed to allow the protectant, after buffing, to cross-link or harden before applying a second coat.

All of Meguiar's waxes and sealants (with the exception of Ultimate Quik Wax) need time to dry before being wiped off. This time will vary depending on product and ambient conditions like temperature, humidity, and the thickness of the coat that was applied. A lot of users, e.g., have discovered that a minimum of 30-45 minutes is needed in order to avoid streaking.

All of Meguiar's cleaner polishes and compounds (SwirlX, Ultimate Compound, M105, M205, M81, etc.) and glazes or pure polishes (M07, Deep Crystal Polish, M05) should be buffed off immediately. Do not allow them to dry on the surface.
Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.

Thanks for that sir akimel. But actually I'm really referring to the latter. Once I buffed off swirlx or cleaner wax or sealant, should I wait a couple of hours to apply the next product in line for instance the LPS?? (based on my list)

Re: I need help about megs cleaner wax

Lyle, the only product in your list that benefits from curing is NXT. Many people prefer, when it is possible, to allow a coat of NXT to cure for several hours (optimally 12 hours) before applying a second coat. But even this isn't absolutely necessary. You won't hurt anything if you were to only wait 15 minutes before applying the second coat.

But no curing time is needed for the other products you are using in your process. For example, after you have polished your car with SwirlX or ScratchX, you may immediately glaze the paint with Deep Crystal Polish. After you have glazed the paint, you may immediately apply a coat of your favorite wax or sealant.

Just a quick note of appreciation to both Murr and Akimel for taking the time to clarify terminology and a new users' questions. As I read this thread I too saw the possible missunderstandings popping up and thanks again to you PROS for hanging in there and being so helpful!
