Was wondering what temperatures I can use Meguiars prducts at? It has been getting over 100 every day here in vegas for the last month. I know to wash the car in the shade and wax in shade as I will be doing the detail on my car in my garage. It is Jet black by the way. Just was wondering if the waxes, polishes etc could be applied in excess of 100 by the G110V2.

    Thanks

    Re: Temperature

I finished my last detail yesterday and the heat index was 105 or 108...something like that.

The only thing I did differently was used a LOT of spray detailer on my pads to get a bit more work time out of the polishes. For every section I applied about 2 mists of QD to the pad.

      Re: Temperature

When you break that 100F mark you potentially run into some issues such as very fast drying of product, etc. Of course, humidity will play a role in that as well, but either way you're getting close to the max temp where we recommend using the products.

Obviously you want the surface you're working on to be cool to the touch - even at 100F in the shade a black car should not feel hot when touching it with your bare hand. If the car has been sitting out in the sun and is truly hot to the touch, then it may take a bit longer to cool down once you move it into the shade.

It can be very dry in Vegas, though, so 100F where you are can be quite different than 100F in suburban Houston, TX (where FinalTouchDetail is located). If he was finding the need to spritz some spray detailer to keep things moist in typical Houston humidity (commonly in the 85-95% range), you're going to be much worse off with your typical 10-20% humidity in Vegas.

Wow, sounds like I am going to wait to do the exterior. One more question. What about interior products like ultimate protectant and leather cleaner?

You should be good to go with those. It is just the workability of the product when removing swirls that will be an issue. With leather and UP, if you find it drying up on you before being able to work it in all the way, then just use a little bit more than normal and make sure to wipe off any extra residue. However you shouldn't have that hard of a time with those.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

          I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
          Remove swirls my friends.
