  • Problem with dealer's detailing

    Hi,

I purchased a 2011 mustang on July 17. I took the bait on a xzilon paint protectant package. Before the Xzilon was applied ,on the 22nd, I noticed some spots on the hood that resembled water spots but would not rub off. My salesman said that his detailers would have to remove them before the application of the xzilon. They did remove them -- but -- now I have ALOT of swirled-buffer marks on my hood and roof that are protected from the elements. I want them to correct their mistake but I am afraid they ( the detailer ) don't know what they're doing. How can I rectify this on my own and without power tools as I don't have a buffer orbital polisher or dual action polisher?

By the way, it is Kona Blue Metallic a dark blue that looks almost purple at times.

Thanks for taking time to read this.

You could attempt to have them try to correct their mistake, but the odds are that they don't have a "real" detailer there.

Your best bet is learning the way of the DA polisher and removing the sealant they applied and correcting the work yourself.

Good luck...I know it can be frustrating.

I've been reading alot this morning and it seems that ScratchX 2.0 is a good place to start after a thorough cleaning. Thanks for your reply!

i will start reading again ,
get a DA some polish pads, a good day , a good breakfast and take your time.
as products 105, and 205 work well. but try with 205 it may be enough if the dealer didn`t use wool :d

I agree. 205 on just a white pad will often be enough to remove hologramming.

              Good luck.

After you correct your paint, reconsider the xzilon paint protectant package. Search the forums using xzilon as your search term. Search thread titles only and read up. You may decide to save yourself several hundred dollars and forgo the xzilon paint protectant package.

After you correct the water spots. You may be so inclined to keep on detailing your ride yourself. It is less frustrating doing it yourself.

I will assume the Xzilon has already been applied.

My advice...(take this with a grain of salt)

                    Small claims court.

Take some good pics with a good digital camara. Do your best to get the scratches that the stealerships detailer left behind. As was already mentioned, this stealership does not have a qualified detailer.

Whatever you decide, I would advise to not let your stealership detail your car ever again.

some advice, some of my clients have bought vehicles that werent delivered like they shoud, full of holgrams and swirls, normaly they take it back to have it fix but they get the same level of work done, what they do is have the dealership pay to fix the work, in this case, my clients ask the dealer to pay MY work, and i do the correction on the vehicle.
Maybe you can do the same, find a good detailer and have the dealer pay the work.
