New to Detailing { 2 yrs }

Is there anything you can suggest to help me better my detailing, i'm asking because i feel like i can do more instead of the "typical" detail.

I have never had a complaint from a customer , they really love{d} my work, only lately i feel like , as i mentioned, i could do more for my customers, is there anyone who would be willing to offer some tricks or tips to help me out, i would be truly grateful - tips or tricks - for example windows - tire shine - brake dust cleaner - etc etc etc. Thank you very much.

The typical - vacuum EVERYTHING,shine the interior,clean all glass,shine the trim,q-tip the vents(as needed) wipe down all the frame that meets the door jam (as needed) etc etc - i'd like to do something different for my customer base that will stand out that they will be happy with, i hope im making myself clear. So you only do interior detailing?

Get yourself an extractor, shampooer, compressed air or all three.

NO - i do Interior / Exterior , now as far as buying the extractor, shampooer, compressed air or all three, ,not going to happen i'm a one man crew and my customer base is not even close to considering such an expspense right now.I wish it was though - maybe one day !

As for the interior... once it is clean, its clean. Cant do more than make it that way. And by shine you probably mean APC wipedown, then dress?

You could try something like the new Odor Eliminator, a squirt in the footwells can be good.

So what do you do for exterior?

As Murr said, once an interior is clean, it's clean. You can only do so much with the tools you have.

Hey Murr - when you say footwells do you mean up under the dash on both the driver and passengers side ?

Spray it up in there ,if so i never thought of that - that would be a great spot to give it a spray or two !

Of course i do the wheels first , i wet them down so they're soaked then i spray them with some amazing brake dust eliminator i let it sit and brush with a soft bristle brush, then i soak the vehicle and wash one side at a time to avoid water spots i do the same thing on the other side as i did the opposite. I rinse it ,then squeegy and wipe it down with a chamio towel, then i use Meguiars UQW - (ultimate quik wax) the best by far - no one is better !

Well, not nessicerily 'up/under'. More like holding the bottle above the seat, and aiming down toward the floor mats.

I try to keep it off leather, but probably wont hurt it. My seats are cloth, so I will do kind of a general spray across the back, and even trunk sometimes.

The new bottles are good for a nice general mist.

Do you use the UQW for everything, or do you do any details with claying, paint cleaning, polsihing, waxing?

I know for me personally we Detail Interior and Exterior but I am learning how to really correct paint with my DA and Rotary. A swirl free (or at least 50% or more swirl free) finish can add that extra pop. I am experimenting with different swirl removers and pads and I have achieved some great results. Not perfect paint correction but close enough to see a real difference.

So you are not really a detailer but a "carwasher" who tries to clean cars. Do you have a business license? Do you contain waste water? Do you have insurance?

How can you claim to have a detail business when you do not have the proper equipment; full knowledge of your trade and operate it appears illegally.

What right do you have to compete with detailers who operate legitimate businesses and have the knowledge, skill and proper equipment?
