    What type of metal was that? Also how did you go about polishing with the hot rims? The insides of my wheels were kinda nasty like the metal you were working. I ended up using steel wool, a sanding/flapper wheel and hot rims, then clear coating but the crust is coming back.

      It's 22 gauge steel sheet metal ($4), they sell it at the hardware store for miscellaneous projects. I left it out in the rain for a few days, but much of the deeper rust, had been on there for quite some time.

      I dipped the terry towel and the 0000 steel wool into the polish and worked the polish for about 5 minutes. Nothing fancy.
