The list above is only a starting point. Ultimately which products you choose will be determined by your skill, the condition of the paint, how hard or "polishable" the paint is, and your personal preferences - especially with regard to your final wax selection. If you're going to make the move to our Soft Buff 2.0 pads, do yourself a favor and get a W68DA backing plate to go with them. Backing plates are usually overlooked when it comes to selecting tools for detailing, but they can make a noticeable difference in the performance of various pads.

The W68 series of plates (one for the D/A and one for the rotary) were designed specifically for the Soft Buff 2.0 pads. They not only fit perfectly into the recess on the back of the pad, making it very easy to center the pad, but they also provide flexible support to the outer edge of the pad. This means that when buffing over body contours or close to contoured edges the pad edge is still supported by the backing plate, giving a more consistent in these areas. Using a small backing plate will cause the pad to bend without support behind it in these areas, and without the support the pad loses cut.

With m105 I used the 8xxx polishing pad on my PC as shown on the chart. It did the same work that m83 dacp did, it didn't seem to remove the heavier scratches. Thats why I'm going to try with the more agressive 7207 cutting pad with the m105, should receive it in the mail tomorrow.
