  • Is this order of wax layering ok?

Well I have 3 different Meguiar's Waxes and well I was wondering if this would be alright or if any of you guys have a better combination for me to try out.
Note: my car is dark blue
Note2: I did clay my car and use Ultimate compound to take out rough edges and scratches before polish & wax

    --Bottom--
Deep Crystal Polish - more shine
Cleaner Wax - Take out some minor marks and to cover polish
Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax - More Shine
NXT 2.0 Tech Wax - Make it last longer
    --Top--

I know the recommended layers is 2, but yeah, I did 3.
So is this alright? or am I wasting my time using this combo? I'm really happy with the results though, but if there's a better one and it's suggested I'm more than happy to give it a try.

    Thanks

After using UC, UP, and UW... I'm not happy with smooth as glass.
Smooth as Glass is an old standard, the new standard for paint texture is Meguiar's Ultimate Quality...

Actually, since you already clayed and used UC you should skip the cleaner wax completely. DC#2 and then you want to apply the NXT and then your DC#3. Sealants should be applied before waxes. Clay and UC should have completely removed all the contaminants on your paint.
    Black......the ONLY color!

By using the Cleaner Wax after polish, you are actually removing the polish.

After using clay and UC I wouldn't use Cleaner Wax at all .. no need.

Yeah, dont want the Cleaner/Wax in that situation. If you needed milder cleaning after the UC, you would want something like:

        SwirlX
        DC Polish - Optional
        Wax
        Wax

Now something you can do for a nice quick detail when not much cleaing is needed is:

        1. Wash
        2. Clay if needed
        3. Cleaner/Wax
        4. Wax

Maybe Polish is not necessary in the process.
          Just experimented recently doing:

          Wash
          Clay
          UC
          Polish
          Wax
          Wax

          and:

          Wash
          Clay
          UC
          (no polish)
          Wax
          Wax

          Result was the same.

Wondering after-wards why use polish in this situation at all?!?

A polish is an abrasive used to remove scatches, so a cleaner wax will only remove any oil residue left from the polishing process.

They're talking about an oily pure polish/glaze as opposed to an abrasive polish.

If only there was clear-cut terminology to be used by all and a polish was a polish, a glaze was a glaze and a wax was a wax.

Ah, Thanks for the heads up on the Cleaner wax mistake, I can't believe I didn't realize that though. I'm sure I'll get better results if I remove cleaner wax from the formula.

Not if you need a cleaning step.

Look at one of the processes I mentioned above, that will make sure you cover all the steps. That will give the best results.
