I have a 2002 STS, Crimson Pearl red, and it has seen better days. I know the only way to fix this one is a new paint job because of scratches but I would like to keep is looking as good as possible until then. It seems to have something on the paint that you can feel more than see. I washed and wax it this morning and it looks good but you can slide you hand over it the surface and feel what feels like grit. I guess it could be many things including paint. Is there a soft polish that I can use without a buffer or does this require tools to accomplish?

Re: Old Caddy
X3 for the clay job. Last fall I bought a winter beater, an Olds Intrigue in bright Red Metallic. It had been driven 10 years with virtually no appearance care, then parked under a pine tree for almost a year. I started with an intense scrubbing, then twice around with some aggressive clay. The improvement was absolutely remarkable. I've been going further over the last few months with cleaners, polishes and waxes, but nothing made as much difference as the clay jobs.

Re: Old Caddy
You guys hit it right on the head. Clay did the trick but i found something strange also. I was sliding my finger over the paint test to see the results of the clay and did the same to the winshield. It felt the same so i use the clay on it. I was surprised to see red on the clay. It looks like original over spray from the factory. Is that posssible after 8 years?
I rarelyuse anything on the glass but would have thought any over spray would have been worn off but i found it on every glass on the car.
Tomorrow i will get some pictures but i have been told if you can feel the scratch it can't be repaired.
