  • Black Camaro - Nightmare

Although I have been around cars for year i admit i have a lot to learn and hopefully this is the right place.

I have always used Meguiar's and depend on it to make me look good.

I just bought a 2010 Black Camaro and want it to continue to be the eye catcher it was the day i bought it.

I already have stumbled a bit but hopefully i can correct it soon.

Living in Texas is hot and very humid so I pull the car in the garage and wax it with Meguiars Carnuba liquid. I applied to the entire car and then began to buff it off. Pour lighting in the garage so i really couldn't see what was going on. Later i pulled the car outside and it looks like a haze in the paint now. I would say it look sort of like oil, really discolored and I was basically sick. I came to see if i could find anything online and for the most part it seems I may have applied it to thick, it was maybe too hot in the garage and the humity couldn't have helped.

This evening i went back out and hand buffed more and it seemed to help.

Ok, my question is will more buffing fix the problem or should i just remove the wax and start over? If remove is the answer should I just wash it or use somehting like the clay bar?

    Any suggestion would be helpful.

Also, it asks for tags at teh bottom. Where do you find that list of usable tags?

    Thanks....

It sounds to me like the problem is you didn't remove the wax completely.

Get it in the shade, let it cool down, and give your cloth a light spritz of detail spray as you remove it..it will help to allow the wax to be removed easier. Reapply the detail spray as necessary to just keep the cloth LIGHTLY damp with it and use a new side of cloth for each panel.

I agree. Wipe it down nice and gently with a microfiber and some QD. This will remove any of the wax that you did not remove on your first wipe.

Remember to apply your wax extremely thin. YOu should be able to see plenty of reflection in the paint (especailly because it is black) when the wax has been applied. Look into the paint and see if you can see your face and if you can, then you applied it correctly.

        Thanks Guys. Worked great.

I bought one of GM's Camaro car covers because i don't have a garage. Any suggestions? It seems to be nylon but i assume it could stil cause problems. I thought about using some kind of cheese cloth on the hood, top and trunk.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding; "I bought one of GM's Camaro car covers because i don't have a garage. Any suggestions? "

Looks for a car cover with a soft lining, microfiber if you can find one. I'd try Googling for them and you might pay $200 or so for the one you need and it'll protect against marring the finish.

Covercraft is always a good starting point.

But really more of a chance causing swirls taking it on and off if you rush.
