Re: Black Paint Care??
You are going to need some awesome technique in order to maintain a relatively swirl free finish on a black car. You will see every imperfection in the paint on black which is why I would never buy a black daily driver. Anyway, let's start with a detail:
1) Two bucket wash with Grit Guards (really helps maintain a black car) and a high quality car wash such as Meguiars Gold Class
2) Dry with high quality microfibers such as Meguiars Water Magnet towels
3) Check the finish for bonded contominants by rubbing your hand over the finish. If the surface feels grainy, like sandpaper, then the surface needs to be clayed. I recommend the Smooth Surface Clay Kit (comes with 2 50g clay bars, 1 Supreme Shine microfiber and 1 16 oz. bottle of Quick Detailer). I suggest buying another bottle of Quik Detailer in case you use up the provided bottle.
4) Use either Swirlx or Ultimate Compound to clean the paint of scratches, water spots, swirls, etc. Try Swirlx on a test spot first to see if it is aggressive enough to remove the imperfections or reach the desired level of correction. If it is not enough then move up to Ultimate Compound. Proceed to do the entire car.
5) This step is optional. Use a pure polish such as Deep Crystal Polish. This uses no abrasives and provides oils that can revitalize a finish, especially black. M07 Show Car Glaze is another commonly used pure polish. Using a foam applicator, massage this into the surface until the applicator starts to drag a little bit and proceed to wipe it off. Do not allow it to dry.
6) Wax with your choice of wax. I always like Gold Class because I prefer the shine it gives but NXT 2.0 is longer lasting and utilizes the new hydrophobic technology. Two thin coats are best, not one thick one.
7) Maintain it! Use either Ultimate Quick Detailer, Last Touch, Quik Detailer, etc. to remove light dust from the car. Between waxes, you can use Ultimate Quik Wax and/or Ultimate Wash and Wax as a booster for the base layer you applied.
Always remember to use good microfiber towels such as Supreme Shine microfibers or Cobra microfibers. The Cobras can be fairly expensive but are supposedly the best on the market although I feel the Supreme Shines are fantastic. DO NOT USE TERRY CLOTH TOWELS ON YOUR BLACK CAR! They will leave behind fine swirls that can be picked up ever so easily on a black finish.
Buy some Hi-Tech Foam Applicators to apply all of your cleaners, polishes and waxes. You can not usually find these in stores but ADS (autodetailingsolutions.net) has a 12-pack for $10. These are machine washable and last a long time. I am assuming you are working by hand.

Take care of a black car is just like taking care of any other car--only more so.Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.

Every color gets equally as dirty and scratched up as black. The only difference is you can see the effects of poor maintenance more easily on a black vehicle. Personally I think a black vehicle just makes you a better detailer.

The pickier you become the more insane a black vehicle will make you. You will ALWAYS find something wrong with a black car, even if no one else sees it.
I have a silver C6 and a black WS6 Firebird Formula and sometimes I regret the black Firebird, ha ha. I've had to teach myself to mellow out when looking at it in direct sunlight even though no one else ever sees what I see :P
