i finally got around to trying out my new DA carpet brush that i got from ADS. i have a few questions though, how much pressure and what speed should i use on my PC? i used it as if i was correcting paint and well the tan carpet turned black! as if the black brush had its color running onto my floor mat....anyone have experience with one of these? i only used it in a few square inch part of the mat once i saw what it was doing.....

Re: DA carpet brush
I normally don't use any pressure other than the weight of the machine. I found running it at speed 5 is a bit too much for the backing plate to hold onto the brush, so I run it around 3. I use the short bristled brush for dirtier stuff while the long bristled for lighter.
I have experienced the black you are talking about, but not with the brush. It was with a hot water extractor on a hyundai santa fe. I believe it was the rubber that the carpeting was attached to, but the black came out.
Just be careful and try to see if you can rinse off the black area. It could be grease embedded in the carpet that the brush surfaced for you.
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

Re: DA carpet brush
The black pretty much came up with a damp hot rag, so I'm "ok" there. Of course it did scare me and I was glad it was not on a customers ride lol. I will try with little to no pressure and a bit slower speed. Thanks man!
I had actually used a professional steam cleaner on the mats about 2 weeks ago and there were some stains left behind. Was interested in seeing of APC+ and this brush would take it out...didn't try enouh before getting scared lol

Re: DA carpet brush
I had trouble using this brush. I tried at various speeds: if I used too much pressure the D/A would stall out; if I didn't apply enough the brush would fly off of the backing plate. Look out! I went back to just using an upholstery brush by hand. I normally don't give up so easily on learning a new piece of equipment or process, but something just didn't feel right about the brush. Heck, I'll trade it if anyone's interested...Mark

I found that the velcro doesn't hold that well to the backing plate. I don't really use them with my DA any more, but I'll scrub with them by hand. Sometimes I'll use it with my DA if there is a really bad spot, I'll just let it sit on top of the area and spray APC+ on it intermittently.
