  • What to do after Rain?

This may be an obvious question to most of you. I am new to actually caring what my car looks like and wanting it to be perfect.
    With that said.

I just got done doing everything to my car. (wash, clay, swirls, polish, and wax) But...I have to go to a wedding rehearsal today and it is supposed to rain! Hopefully the sun don't come right back out as it tends to do here because I believe that would make it worse.

What is the best method and what do YOU do after it rains to keep your car looking its best?

    Thanks

Not to be funny -- I wash it. Usually it is not a good idea to just wipe it down. There may already be dust, dirt, etc. on the finish. Rain happens.

When did you 'get done'? If you mean 5 minutes ago, and it rains later, I would say it is safe to UQD it.

If by 'just' you mean a day or two ago, and been driving around, etc, probably best to go with the wash.

As long as no dirt or grit gets on the car or debris you can handle this 2 different ways.

Waterblade/Wiper to hit the windows and body panels and work with the curves of the car. Then Follow up with a MicroFiber Towel or something that helps soak the water up and final wipe down with a MF towel. THEN if your feeling froggy, Ultimate Quick Wax

OR forgo the Wiper blade on body panels if NOT COMPLETELY, get a bunch more of the MF towels to soak up the majority of water and then continue with the rest of my foremention process.

IF your car has a good wax layer/booster it should be beading like crazy and even if it dried in the sun (waterspots) a clean MF and Ultimate Quick Detailer will get her looking mint in no time.

Another option would be to use a no rinse wash. If your car is relatively clean, it's almost as fast as using a quick detailer.

I feel your pain man. I spent about 5 hours yesterday doing my mustang and I get up this morning and I was kinda pissed lol....I'll hit it with some M135 later after work.

I know how you feel too... in upstate NY it rains almost everyday in the summer, and with the construction here it makes things worse. There isnt a day that I'm not driving, so I cannot avoid driving in the rain by the construction sites... so the dirt gets on my car. I end up washing it....
Yes sometimes I wash it daily.... people think I'm crazy and some hate me for wasting water. But the water here is "recycled" anyway.

Best bet is to be safe. Just wash it again.
