Hi everybody my name is george and i am from Cyprus, i have a question for you all, i just bought a brand new rangerover (balck) and i took it for ****** and a little compound on the hood as it had very light scratches on the hood from washing by hand with a chamois leather, finally the car is full of buffer machine swirls on the hood and, and swirls everywere, the colour is dull and when u touch it its not smoth but lets say sticky? i dont know what to do can somebody give me a clue? on the other hand i dont want to do more damage and cut more from the clear coat.

Well, it sounds like to me that you are in need of some paint correction. Now there are many ways to go about this ( by hand, dual action polisher, rotary) and I'm sure someone will elaborate. If u are not comfortable taking a buffer to your car than u will need to enlist in the services of a pro detailer. Hopefully there is a fellow MOL member close by. Best of luck.

Hi georgegeorghiou from Cyprus. Sounds like an overall careful wash, Claybar and polishing should improve matters.
Start with a wash with a good shampoo and hand dry.

(GOLD CLASS™ CAR WASH SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER)

Next a Clay bar treatment should remove fallout, rail/brake dust and any surface contaminants.

SMOOTH SURFACE™ CLAY KIT

Then using a Polisher if you have one, either a Dual-Action MEGUIAR'S® DUAL ACTION POLISHER

or by hand (Much harder) use a Cleaner Wax/Polish like

DEEP CRYSTAL® SYSTEM PAINT CLEANER
or if you can use any of the Meguiar's Detailer Line products like

PAINT RECONDITIONING CREAM
These Polishes will Clean, Polish and wax your vehicles surface, and with a Polisher like the MEGUIAR'S® DUAL ACTION POLISHER you can eliminate the swirls and light scratches and make the paint shine again.
Those are just a few of the products and procedures you can use to help your new Rangerover.

You could also pick up some Ultimate Compound and Swirlx if they have these products in Malta.

Now, this task will be daunting to say the least if you choose hand application. Patience is a virtue in these cases. When working by hand it could take 3-4 applications of a paint cleaner or cleaner/polish before seeing adequate results. Remember, in order to remove scratches, you have to remove a very small amount of paint.

By DA, the process is safe, relatively quick, and the results are amazing.
By hand, the process is safe, slow and might be amazing if enough time is put into the project.
