  • Professional Dual Action Polisher

    Hi Folks,
Getting ready to pull the trigger and order the new dual action polisher and I have a few questions.
I noticed in the review of this unit it comes with a backing plate. Do I need to order the dual action polishing plate as well?
My use will be polishing a 26 foot Class C RV that came painted with poly urethane epoxy paint job. (hard as a rock) I have had it previously polished with Meguiar's NXT Generation® Tech Wax® 2.0 and was very pleased with the finish. What kind and how many pads will I need to reapply a new coat of Tech Wax about twice a year?
Thanks for your input, it will undoubtedly help me not to "over buy or under buy," when I order.
    Thanks for your help.
    Best,
    Treeman

Polishing refers to paint defect removal or correction, such as abrading swirls, scratches, removing oxidation, hard water etching, etc. NXT 2.0 is a sealant/wax, or what you would apply following a paint correction to protect your newly polished paint.

You would need finishing pads (W9207) to apply wax with your DA. Another backing plate is not necessary.

        Thank you Clearly Coated,

I did have a "paint correction," on my rig after I allowed someone to pressure wash my RV. Evidently their soap had aluminzers or some other chemical that left streaks in the burgundy paint. I had to have the whole rig rubbed out and then followed up with the Tech Wax. (lesson learned)
Thanks for letting me know I didn't need the backing plate, and which pads to buy, much appreciated!

I replied too fast. Can you let us know what polisher (make/model) you are buying, the diameter of your backing plate, and whether or not the backing plate is hook and loop (for velcro backed pads)?

              Sorry,
The buffer comes with DA Backing Plate Item # W68DA. I ordered two SoftBuff™ 2.0 Finishing Pads. Looks like they will work via description for the backing plate that comes with the buffer.
