  • Recipe for Success

I found a local parts store that carried a limited selection of the professional line, So I picked up what I think will work. there was no 80 or 82.

-Swirl remover 2.0 - the closet thing to a cleaner I could find...

    Next I would use

-Show car glaze- A pure, very fine polish. Correct?

    then top with NXT.

I plan to use polishing pads for the cleaner/polish and finishing pad for NXT on the G-100. I will use these on my black Miata with new paint, and my 2 year old truck. Both have very slight swirls which all but disappear with a coat of NXT, So I don't need anything very aggressive.

    Any thoughts?? Thanks!

    Hey,

Your plan looks good! And yes, Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze is a pure polish. It will help beautify the surface even further!

Give the products a try and report back!!

Just to note, this is the step you really want to focus on. Don't rush, take your time and really do a good job when you apply the #9 Swirl Remover 2.0

#9 Swirl Remover 2.0 is a fairly light cleaner/polish but it will remove light swirls which is by your description what you have.

A polishing pad like Meguiar's W-8006 foam polishing pad working together with the diminishing abrasives in the #9 SR 2.0 on the dual action polisher on the 4.5 t 5.0 setting will remove light swirls.

Remember to use a slow arm speed, work a small section at a time, like 16" square or so, and when you move on to a new section, overlap into the previous section for uniform swirl removal over the entire surface which will then give you a uniform appearance over the entire surface.

      Have fun...

Thanks mike! I was going to ask about speeds next!

I bought plenty of polishing pads, but I have not used them yet. It looks like it will be a few weeks before I can clan and polish my car, there are some paint defects I need to send it back for.

Btw, the g100 ROCKS! I waxed my truck with NXT in less than half the time I could do it by hand... and the shine is even better!

            Hey,

First, the #4 Heavy Cut Cleaner, #1 Medium Cut Cleaner and the #2 Fine Cut Cleaner are all part of Meguiar's Traditional Cleaners. They are designed to be used with a rotary buffer only as the Diminishing Abrasives need the heat/friction to break down that only a rotary can provide. They were designed more for single stage paints though they can be used for clear coat paint (BC/CC) as well.

Meguiar's #3 Machine Glaze is a pure polish that will beautify the paint's surface. Awesome product! It was designed to be used by machine (the rotary buffer) but also works well with a PC, orbital or by hand.

The 80 Body Shop Series was designed with BC/CC in mind. The #81 Hand Polish is a pure polish that is a little easier to remove on BC/CC paint. Meguiar's #80 Speed Glaze is a cleaner/polish with a paintable polymer. It one of the products that I utilize on almost every detail I do! Meg's #82 Swirl Free Polish is a mild cleaner (less aggressive than #80) that will remove mild marring and swirls. Meg's #83 DACP, #82 SFP, #80 Speed Glaze, and #81 Hand Polish can all be applied by PC, orbital, rotary or by hand.

            I hope this helps!

I applied the swirl remover 2.0, and it all but removed the fine swirls, as well as added depth and a grat deal of reflection. Car looks like a mirror!

To remove the rest of the fine swirls, Should I apply the swirl remover again and work it in longe rto remove the fremaining swirl marks, or use a more agressive product?

Also, regarding the show car glaze, should this product be worked in to the finish like the swirl remover, or something to be quicly applied? I did not spend a lot of time working it into the finish, and it only provided a minimal (but measureable) improvement.

                  Thanks!
