I just noticed a "cloudy" patch on one of my headlights (bi-xenon headlight of a Mercedes). I applied PlastX and did not help. It looks like the patch is from the inside of the glass. If it's formed in the inside, it will be impossible to remove.

How can I find out if the cloudy patch is in the inside or not?

Perhaps you can post some pics.

It's possible that you had condensation inside the headlight. It may have left a mineral deposit behind.

Does not look like condensation. It is a white cloudy patch in front of the main bulk. Maybe it's the heat?

I believe these headlights come as a whole unit. There may not be any way to check the inside.

Another headlights on cleaning. There are stone chips as well as other blemishes on them Should I use PC2 or Swirls to polish it?

          Any comments?

I am tempted to apply SwirlX on headlights. Should I?
I tried PlastX in few occasions and for me, it does not work so well.

You could give it a shot with UC. However, if the cloudiness is on the inside of the headlight then it is past repairable as far as I know.

              Re: Headlights

I worked on some headlights the other day that the owner claimed were "all fogged up on the inside". Turns out the damage was 100% on the outside, but it just appeared as though there was hazing on the inside. Some pictures would really help here.

Sometimes using PlastX by hand won't give the results you're looking for and a buffer (or the Headlight Restoration kit, which comes with a drill attachment) is the best option.

I thought I rubbed pretty hard already. Maybe I should rub even harder.

                What is this drill attachment?

I don't have UC. Is SwirlX safe for headlights?

                  The "Headlight Restoration Kit" http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-Profe...705066&sr=1-11

This comes with a drill attachment buffer (that you use with PlastX).

                    Re: Headlights

So this drill attachment buffer is used with the rotary, right?

I don't have a rotary so I will just have to rub it hard.

I never saw a comparison in aggressiveness on SwirlX and PlastX. Any idea here?

                      Re: Headlights

I think the idea is to attach it directly to a power drill (cordless or otherwise).

                      For example:

Last time I checked (a few months ago), UC is not available in Canada.

Looks to me that products for painted surfaces will work for plastic as well.
Most of our cars are clear-coat protected anyway.

Sure is. I use it everyday. Walmart($9.99 and Canadian Tire 12-$14.99) both carry it. CT also carries the headlight kit.
