  • Bumper Scuff Mark

Well, over the weekend my nephew was playing hockey in the driveway and after being asked to move away from my car three times, he did what I knew would happen. He hit my car with his hockey stick. Although it looks worse to me than it probably is, I would like to get some advice on how to remove a scuff mark from the bumper. It is the first blemish on the car since I purchased it in April 2004. Should I use scratchx or colorx? I believe the bumper is made of plastic (2004 Black Jeep Liberty). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hey Jim,

Sorry to hear about the mishap.

Do you have a picture of the damage? It would be helpful in order to choose the correct product. But in most cases, I would normally suggest using ScrtachX. Just remember to work the product in thoroughly. You may have to do the area a couple of times.

Hopefully this link will help as well!

      Tim,

I don't have a picuture of the mishap. It looks like dried wax that was never removed. I have some ScratchX, so I will give that a try. Thanks.

From your description, ScratchX should do the trick!

          Hi Jim,

Is the part affected painted plastic or black, pebble textured plastic?

If it's painted plastic, the Tim's suggestion of using ScratchX will work fine, you might try applying it with something with a little bite, like a piece of terry cloth. If the part affected is pebble textured black plastic, then ScratchX might work, but this type of material with its textured surface is more difficult to clean and then you have to make sure you can remove all of the cleaner from the surface.

            Mike,

The bumper is painted plastic. So, if I get a chance today, I am going to try ScratchX. I will let you know how I make out. Thanks for the reply.

actually jeep bumpers arent plastic there called a material called composite. and i normally just use lacuqer thinner to remove scuffs on my bumper. But hey if you actually use the jeep as a jeep go get yourself some "trail damage" and itll just blend in.
