I understand why you should clean your pad on the fly while using a paint cleaner as you need the product to be very effective at removing defects, but is it necessary to do this while applying a pure polish or wax?

Re: Cleaning your Pad
You should be applying your wax thin enough that you shouldn't really even need to as you will probably be done with the car before your pad has too much product. if you are using a pure polish, it is possible that your pad can become somewhat saturated and it doesn't hurt to go ahead and clean your pad.
I don't believe it is technically necessary, but it just make things easier if your pad doesn't have excess product built up in it.
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
Remove swirls my friends.

Re: Cleaning your Pad
I don't clean my pads during the paint correction phase. I have a good supply of pads that allow me to change them out and once complete I clean them in a bucket of solution then rinse throughly......just my way....BobbyG
