boy tell me about it. I spend 1 hour in ONE square foot area with swirl x and a foam pad, i must have done at least 15 passes and it did NOTHING, absolutly NOTHING. this is on a pearl white finish too. wiped off in one direction using a microfiber towel. wow what a bummer. I wish i had my own garage to use a buffer. Was so excited, now bummed !

Re: evaulate my steps in detailing the car

well gentlmen, i have officialy given up. I have had this car for 3 weeks and washed it yesterday for the first time. it immediatly became apparent to me that the car was recently clay bared as the paint was super smooth. I proceeded to clay it just to lay a clean foundation anyways. the paint is in very very good condition. in fact, there is very few swirls but there are thousands of tiny straight swirl-like lines on the clear coat, I cant tell if they are extremly light scratches or actual swirls. I did everything i could by hand to get rid of them. although about 50% was removed, there are still all over the place. I only worked on the hood and did 3 coats of ultimate compound followed by two coats of swirl x and 2 coats of scratch x and concluded that it was pointless to proceed to put so much effort by hand. im just going to polish and wax the car tomorrow to seal it up.

I plan to attack this project with a buffer in a few months and hopefully that would do the trick, but im not sure.... i would take pictures but its way too hard to see them on a white finish.
