  • Bunch o' questions

My friend asked me if I would do a full detail on his car since i'm the only guy he knows that does "good detailing" what he doesnt know it that i'm really a just noob with a d/a and some polish. He's paying me around $200 to wash, clay, polish wax the exterior. Then vaccum, clean, treat and condition the interior. I'd say its a pretty fair price. Anyway, on with my questions.

Can I use UQD as a clay lube? All I have is some 3401 and an old thing of UQD. I don't want to "waste" the "good stuff."

Can I use leather cleaner or conditioner on perforated leather?

Can I use a household carpet cleaner on his foot rugs (how do you say it?)? I know it's "ghetto" but I want to give him the most for his money and I cant afford a HWE.

Thanks a lot for all your help, this forum taught me whatever car detailing knowledge I use.

First question, Yes you can use UQD, I will use it and when I run out of that, I will put some Gold Class Car Wash in a bottle, with added water, to use for claying. Need to wash the car again to get the soap off if you use the Gold Class Car Wash since it is soap.

Second question, Yes you can use cleaner conditioner on your perforated leather seats, Meg's Gold Class Leather Conditioner is pretty awesome stuff!

Third Floormats, yes you can use houshold carpet cleaner on them a soft brisseled brush goes a long way on getting ground in dirt.

I hope You can use any of the info. I provided. Good luck!

Actually, Ultimate Quik Detailer is not intended to be used as a clay lube. Last Touch (diluted 50/50 with water) or regular Quik Detailer are what you will want to use for that.

In a pinch, water with some car wash soap can do the trick if need be.

You can use the leather products on perforated leather, I would just suggest using the product a little more sparingly, and apply it to the towel first - then rub the leather. It will be less likely to go into the holes then.

I would also suggest a towel with more nap, such as a terry cloth towel for that step.

Using normal carpet cleaner might work, but it really depends on the stains. It shouldn't cause problems though, regardless. Just make sure you vacuum thoroughly before wetting the carpets - unless you like mud

        Hi Guys,

I asked customer service about perforated leather & they suggested using there spray leather conditioner.

EinZeit - claims to be ok for perforated leather

UQD is not a acceptable clay lube.

When using the leather cleaner/conditioner. Since you will be working on perforated seats. I suggest applying product to whatever you are using to work the product in. Meaning applicator pad, or microfiber towel. If applied directly to the seats. You will have a heck of a time, removing product from all the perforations.
          quality creates its own demand

This newest Meguiars leather cleaner & conditioner is in gel form so it is great for perforated leather.

However, I have not had trouble with the cream style leather cleaner/conditioners when applied first to the foam pad.

I happen to have a Hoover steam vac for the house. If you have something like that it is great for going over the floor mats after you have scrubbed them with water and carpet shampoo. Also see the following recent thread on handwashing the carpets.

I know I'm singling Nick out here, but... I've noticed on his Show Off Your Latest Detail Work threads that he explains cleaning the carpets with All Purpose Cleaner, and then extracting using hot water and a shop vac. To quote: More for @Tuck91, Can you explain this process in more detail? It sounds to me like you
