By "pits" I mean the little white chip marks from stones/gravel over time and a lot of miles leaving an array of little white dots all over the hood reminding me of the planetarium I used to visit when I was a kid.
I keep revealing these tiny spots so nicely when I compound a black car. All that thorough cleaning and polishing only reveals them that much more and the customer ends up wondering what I "did" to the hood to make them show up so well. Before, a lot of those little white dots were hidden by dirt and contaminants, now I've cleaned them out, and applied a generous layer of tough hardshell wax to keep any more dirt from getting back in, and thus helping to hide them again.
What is the common trick to hide these chipmarks? A sharpie? Black crayon wax? Does Meguiar's have anything for it?
