  • UQW After UQD?

Is this something that can be done safely? I'd like to apply a thin coat of wax this weekend but my car really isn't that dirty. As a result, I think a full blown wash is unwarranted. UQD should do the trick just fine but can I apply UQW afterwards?

I just clayed last weekend so the surfaces should be fine.

    What do you guys think?

    Re: UQW After UQD?

You could use UQW after a thorough but gentle cleaning with UQD. I tend err on the side of safety and will wash my car before applying any wax. This seems to help minimize any scratching that could be done. Some dirt may get caught in crevices and if you go over them with the towel when wiping off the UQW and continue to use that same side of the towel then you may introduce new scratches.

However, the same could be said when using UQD. It's up to you really; it's a judgement call.

      Re: UQW After UQD?

After claying it, was there any wax on the car??

IMO, a quick wash does not hurt, as when a car is done right half the water on the car sheds off before I get my wiper blade out and I can have her done in 15 mins tops and ready for either a paste wax or booster like UQW.

This past Tuesday, I had a car show with the Trans Am, and I took it home, washed, dried. Debated on UQW but I was running late. I had UQD in the car and at the show I went over her again.

When I got home, I had a few minutes and then UQW it and looks hard as glass.

So the way I did it, made sense. The car is clean.

The way your proposing IMO could creat swirls, if the car does not have a actual paste/liquid wax layer that has cured properly, your just going to damage the clear coat.

        Why not?

Is your car garaged? You could just QW the upper extremities. If it's clean...why not? After all, you're just using a liquid "quick wax". It aint like it's going to explode or something if water doesn't hit your car before using UQW. After all, it's not that dirty...is it?

I think that would depend upon what you mean by "Not that dirty".

            Re: UQW After UQD?

So just to clarify, last weekend I clayed, polished and waxed. The point I was trying to make is there shbouldn't be any bound contaminants on the car.

It's a daily driver so it's out during the day but garaged at night. By "not that dirty" I mean it only has whatever small amounts of dust are landing on it when it sits at the bus park and ride all day. That said, I've been hitting it with UQD every other day which is keeping it pretty clean. Was just wondering if the UQD polymer technology would prevent the UQW from curing properly.

I hope that makes more sense....

UQD and UQW has the same Hydrophobic Technology like NXT. IMO It should be washed as your starting with a clean slate. The water should be blasting off since you have keep up on the UQD.

                Re: UQW After UQD?

If your car has been sitting outside for a day or two and it hasn't been rained on, then UQD should be sufficient to wipe it down. You can definitely follow that with UQW if you so choose.

But if your car has been sitting out all week (even garaged at night) then the build up might be more than you want to remove with any mist & wipe product. Remember, these are designed to remove light dust only, not as a substitute for a full wash when needed. Depending on the level of fallout in your area, 5 days worth of exposure may or may not be too much. Kind of a judgment call here, but we're inclined to think it's time to wash instead of mist & wipe.
