Cleaner Wax as base to NXT?

Will the megs CleanerWax make a good base coat for NXT 2.0? I recently clayed and used CW on my car after 8+ years of washing every month or so.... Yea, the paint had ALOT of crud in it. Claying even removed some body buffing compound i found the body shop missed getting years ago. went so far as to dismount the spoiler and clean the area under that.

they lightly catch a fingernail as you run it across them. Can they be fixed without a repaint?

Yes, it would be a good base. When I first started using Meguiar's. I regularly used A-12 cleaner wax, followed by Gold Class.

Ive used it in my car.

You really have to put some passion while working the CW. It will remove some swirls, polish, and protects your paint.
Then when you put the NXT 2.0 it looks even better. Just imagine that picture in your head

I would guess the best way to apply CW and NXT2 is with a DA.. Sadly my car's radio seems to be ready to commit itself to death.

If it needs cleaned that badly, ColorX would be the better cleaner/wax choice.

However, both will be a bit mild for real paint correction.

You can apply by hand or machine... there isnt really any 'best', but a machine can do things more easily.

As far as your scratch, you may want to try some ScratchX 2.0 on it.

Its already had a full body clay job, that made a large change to the look of the car. I coated the car with CleanerWax, While it improved the look, it also showed a few of the imperfections in the paint. I'll hit the scratch with some ScratchX2.0 this weekend probably. I have that and SwirlX on hand. I need to drop into lowes and get some more QD.

I love A-12 Cleaner Wax as a base for NXT on paint in good condition. It stays wet long enough for you to work it in. I have some ColorX to try as a first coat followed by NXT on the DD next time since many recommend it.

I had this idea as well for my metalic brown '07 silverado. Any updates on how this combpo works? I may also try color X and NXT.

Or would Deep Crystal® System Polish be a better base for NXT?

My sneaking suspicion is that no matter what wax one uses as as a base, whether Cleaner Wax or ColorX or whatever, NXT will itself become the "base" wax.

So bottomline: don't worry about it. Use your Cleaner Wax and top with NXT and be happy!

To be Honest, if the car had no or very little imperfections, check this out.....

#7 Show Car Glaze Base
Layer of NXT 2.0 on top
and then topped with #26 Hi-tech Yellow.

Cleaner Wax + Gold Class Wax is the better thought-out combo here if you are chasing the most depth of colour and gloss.

Cleaner Wax + NXT is great for protection and maxing out reflections.

Deep Crystal Polish and NXT is not used often. Its only suitable for very well maintained paint, or otherwise you need to introduce a cleaner to the routine like Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner.

Haven't tried it yet. Busy summer so far.
