  • quick detailling in the sun

So on the weekend a group of us went up to a car show, it was outdoors and an hour away, it had just rained the night before so the streets were a bit mucky too. Our cars made it there pretty clean, but they definately needed a touch up.

Now heres the issue, I wanted to use some quick detailler and do a waterless wash, but it was sunny out, which I know is a bad thing for Ultimate Quick Detailler. So what do you guys do when you need to do a quick detailing in the sun? I know Ultimate Quick Wax can be used in the sun, but is it safe to use as a quick detailer, to clean the car? Or is it meant to be used on a clean surface?

UQW doesn't have the "lube" in it to make it a cleaner.

Personally considering that most situations that I have exp was that a Clean car needs....

        - California Duster
        - Ultimate Quick Detailer
        - Ultimate Quick Wax

If the car has good wax layer and followed up regularly, nothing should be etching in the paint and at worst the UQD should get most of it. Make sure you have clean MF towels.

OFTEN if I still need to drive to the place/show, go there and then detail when parked. It gives you something to do.

No mind you, with a car baking in the sun. Hot paint can be a issue. I would work each section no more then a 12" x 12" As it could evaporate easily.

So as long as you work in small sections, and take it off quickly there shouldn't be an issue? The main cause for concern is just making sure it doesn't self dry onto the panel, correct?

Correct. I actually was working on my Father in law's Dodge Ram 1500 Night Runner and made that mistake. It had good wax on it and I was misting UQW as I was finishing up a full detail and As I was misting it on, it was trying to evaporate.

I managed not to dig myself in a hole but considering most shows are out in the open, your not going to have the opportunity to wash/wax, mostly dust and quick detail.

IF it is that bad, go through a touchless car wash, have MF and water blade in hand and dry up the car quick.
