  • Some old paint and some new paint

I'm just about to polish 3 black VW's that have some very recent (this weekend) paint work completed on some of their body panels. These cars are heading to a show in Vegas next weekend. All the cars black.(yah!) Now Im not afraid to polish black cars(I've done many) but my concern is the very fresh paint. Any suggestions on what to use or not use on such fresh paint? I won't be doing them till Thur/Fri so they will have about 5-6 days to cure. Two of the cars have had the hoods, front bumpers painted.

#80 would probably be best. Cant do much else to protect them.

I was thinking M80. I've been using M105/205 so much lately that I hardly ever touch anything else. There is some swirls on one of the cars(old paint) from the owner trying to do it himself so I will have to correct that first of course.

Well, the #80 will leave a little protection behind.

Could QD them at the shows.

Thats about all it is safe to do for a while.

Thanks man for the suggestion. I was planning on giving them a bottle of QD and a few MF as part of my detail. I do that once in a while for certain customers.

Depends on whether or not the paint was baked...

I do not think that QD is safe for fresh paint: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39257
