  • Wax stains on my side molding?

I have a simple question. Over the year i have had my civic ive noticed that the black plastic aka side molding has become stained with the wax and faded. Is there any real cure to get it out and back to black?

Try cleaning the molding with an all purpose cleaner and a brush. Once its clean and dry, follow up with ultimate protectant via a foam applicator pad. This stuff is awesome and should restore a nice dark wet look.

Or you can use smooth peanut butter, or a pink school eraser. Should clean up real easy with any of the 3 remedies.

You can use APC plus a soft brush and agitate. Any method you prefer on trying I would follow with Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant or Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer

Just a pink school eraser. That's all.

As for the peanut butter, you will have to use some type of all purpose cleaner to remove the residue.

Peanut butter will do nothing but hide the problem for a short time. All its doing it covering the problem with peanut oil that will wash off the first time it rains.

You have a couple of options, and they've been stated in the thread.

To remove you can use one of these products:
Meguiar's Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner (if it's been for a long time and it's difficult to remove)
Meguiar's Vinyl and Rubber Conditioner (less cleaning ability as the one above)
Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner (10:1 or 4:1 dilution depending on how bad it is)

And once you've cleaned and remove everything dress the trim with one of these products:
                    Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant
                    Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer

I waxed my wife's Volvo S60 and had wax in the side moldings. After several applications of cleaner with minimal results, this is what I tried: On a sunny day I parked her car in the sun. The sun warmed the side molding and the wax oozed out. Applied cleaner and removed 99%.

Ive tried hot water with soap and a tooth brush it got very lil out. Then i used like armoral tire shine and rubbed it on the side molding, and it went away leaving it black again but its starting to come back

I think you will just paint it with a coated black. Try it. But I my uncle grind it then paint it with a black coat. And I think it looks awesome again and shining!

Meguiars M39 Heavy Duty Vinyl and Rubber cleaner also works well.
