Just got the wife's new Malibu home and I had to vary my plans just a bit regarding getting it cleaned up and protected. I am going to do the following as these are the products that I could get ahold of immediately so I can use my couple of days off and get this done......

    1. megs deep crystal wash
    2. clay as needed
    3. megs #82 (205 not available)
    4. megs #21
    5. day later. maybe a 2nd coat of #21
    6. megs clear coat car wax

I will be using a 7424 and have 6.5" lcs white, green, and black pads.

Any caveats or warnings or advice before i do this....?

    3. #82 would work, or SwirlX if more cleaning ability was needed.
    5. 2 coats of wax is always best.
    6. Not sure which product you mean?

Yeah, dont need the 3 coats. You can, but not needed.

One coat of #21 with the Gold Class would be ok.

I can do either....which would be better, 2 coats of #21 or a single coat plus thewax....sorry for all of the dumb questions.

Hard to say. Are all 2.0/Plus products?

It seems surprising that one would need to clay a brand new car.

It is far from smooth after washing. I think the trip by rail/truck left a lot of crud on it.

New to the person does not mean that it is new to the elements. It could sit out on a dealer lot for months before being purchased.
