Purchased the NXT Wash & Wax Kit, what else?

I will be the first to tell you that when it comes to car care products, stupid doesn't even begin to describe myself. Mostly because I'm only 21 and only had 1 car and was it was covered with rust on the bottom. So I didn't see alot sense in putting alot of effort into detailing my car, since no matter how shiny and nice it looked, it was still going to have all the rust at the bottom. I recently bought a Black 2006 Impala LTZ and have fell in love with it. This car is going to be taken car of. So I got to looking for a kit of products that would do everything I need, and ran upon the Meguiar's NXT Wash & Wax Kit on Amazon and was surprisingly cheap for only 25 bucks with free shipping.


The Kit Includes:

• NXT Tech Wax 2.0
• NXT Car Wash
• NXT Insane Shine Spray
• Ultimate Quik Detailer
• Microfiber Towel and Foam Applicator

I began to look up more details on the Meguiar's website, I noticed the plethora of products they carry, and has me pretty overwhelmed to say the least. As I had mentioned earlier, I don't know much when it comes to detailing. So I was wondering what else I might need. Of course more towels, and foam applicators, and I bought the Meguiar's mitt. But i'm seeing people posting about polishes and compound products that I don't have a clue what they do. So I was also wondering if someone could explain a few of the products to me. I thought polishes and wax was sorta of the same thing? The car dealership was pretty good at taking car of their cars, it was detailed before it was put on the lot, then again before I drove off with it. But I couldn't really tell you what all they did to it, product usage wise. So any help would be greatful

If I were to start, I would start with this thread and continue. I also would suggest using a lot the "search" to find very useful information, this forum is full of this!

This is a nice simple detail:

1. Wash - Nxt Car Wash.
2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit
3. ColorX
4. Wax - Nxt 2.0

5. Maintain - Ultimate Quick Wax or Ultimate Quick Detailer are good after future washes.

Of course you can get fancier in the future, but that will beat most cars out there. And always more towels and applicators.
