  • NOOB questions I guess!

I have a 97 Explorer. I haven't been taking care of the paint like I use to. I want to get a buffer, maybe meguires or now after engine rebuild something cheaper for now, but want to use their pads. What steps, pads, products should I use and in which order. I have never clay bared it. SO, where do I start? Obviously a good wash, then I was thinking claybar? I have no idea! YOU tell ME! Thanks in advance,

    Scott

First thing would be is to wash your explorer then clay bar it..now i never used any meguiar's pads or polisher..i got the porter cable with LC pads..i been using the white and black pads.

The paint is....ok. I have had the entire drivers side re-painted because of incidents in lots and things, but the passenger side is still stock as far as I know. The Hood is by far the worse for wear! Feels rough to the touch.

Probably over spray and bonded contaminants. Give it a good claying.
