I just received a PC + Sonus pads and some Meguiars polishes (#9,#80,#83) for Christmas. I first used the Green polishing pad with #80 since this is the least abrasive combination and thought it would be safe to learn with. I was happy with the results I got after I did one pass on my hood it got rid of about 60% of the swirls. So I thought I would tackle the area where I just had body work done. The body shop had left a lot of buffer trails and swirls everywhere. I went over it one time it got rid of the dull look and most of the buffer trails. It looks a lot better now. Went over the area a second time it looked a little bit better. So the next day I got out the Orange cutting pad and #83 went over my hood and wow the results are great it got rid of like 80% of the swirls and I tried it on other cars it is a great product. So now I am asking the community and others more experienced then me would it be safe for me to use #83 and the cutting pad on the repaired area (3 weeks now).

Probably very safe as this paint has pretty much set-up by now. Whenever you're unsure, always test first with the least aggressive combination and test in a small area. You can alway use a less aggressive pad with the #83 also to reduce the aggressiveness of your cleaning step.
If you end up going over the repaired area with the #83, make sure to follow this with the #80 Speed Glaze and a softer foam pad.
Good luck, have fun!

Thank you for the prompt reply. I have just recently got into detailing I can't believe there is so much to it. Between this board and the Autopia board it is where I spend most of my time online. It is consuming my life. Haha. Meguiars has great products.
