  • A clay question...

I've never used clay before and therefore don't know a thing about it. I'm going to be getting the quik clay. Is the clay bar reusable? If so, do I clean it when I'm done? How should I store it?

Yes clay is reusable. The directions state 2-3 cars per bar I think. If the paint is very contaminated then this will reduce the number of cars per bar.

Clay doesn't get cleaned per say. You do knead the clay to a clean portion and flatten out after claying a body panel. Knead the clay more often if the clay is picking up alot of contaminates. While claying if I see some specs of trash on the clay, I'll just pick out the small bit of clay and trash.

I store mine in a zip loc baggie between uses. When I get a new bar I cut it in half (or 3 rds) and store one half while I use one half. The reason is if clay is dropped it must be discarded. Then you'll have the backup clay sitting in the zip loc.

    Good luck
