  • How do you clean microfiber towels?

Washing machine with detergent or just in a bucket with some Meguiars car wash and water?

Just wondering what the best way to clean them is as I assume you'll need to get the dirt out of them at some point. Especially if you're using QD a couple times a week.

    Thanks,
    Chris

I wash them independently in washing machine with Tide; dry on low heat.

Yeah, do MF's seperately, no fabric softener. Other than that, just wash like normal.

Some white vinegar once in a while is good.

Yeah forgot: no fabric softener no dryer sheet. Important.

Same as above. I also presoak them in APC and Super Degreaser (or I have used Dawn) in a bucket of water until I have enough of them to do a load of wash with them.

Used to soak it in APC/SDeg/etc but I just washed them on 65C/149F or so and they came out pretty darn clean and fluffy.

Plus, I'm with the rest, no softener and clean the drums (rinse and wipe off any residue) before putting in the MFs - you might get linting issues.

Also, I prefer a liquid detergent. I have heard from others that the granules sometime s get trapped in the loop of the microfiber. Never really was a issue here. We have always used liquid detergent. But, I just thought I would pass it along.

I guess someone must have spilled the powder and dragged a m/f after washing. Then used it on the paint. Must have scratched the surface. Just guessing.

Washed with Tide Free (no dyes or perfumes) on gentle cycle, no bleach, no fabric softener. Dry on low heat, no dryer sheets. MF towels get washed and dried by themselves - nothing else in the load. I also keep my towels and pads in covered Rubbermaid tubs in the garage when not in use to keep dirt and dust from getting in them.

Thanks for the great ideas eveyone. At least I know how to deal with the towels now.

I've read in more than one place that the dryer is bad for the Microfiber and actually the heat changes the electrostatic properties.

I also never use a detergent with a bleach or scent.

I have no problems drying mine. Set the dryer to the lowest setting and your okay.

Pre-soak them with Dwan and APC for 2 days in hot water.

Washing machine with detergent (I use powder detergent because tide is kinda of expensive here. Before putting the detergent to the washing machine i first dilute about half cup in water, stir it arround a little bit to break up the grains and then i add it to the water).

The dry it with fluff air.
