No, you don't have to. The clay will still be able to do its job. However you will want to apply a new coat of wax after claying, as your wax job will be compromised. What are you trying to do?Shane

I think a fresh coat could hinder claying, but any coat of wax that has been on the surface a while seems to be fine to leave on and clay.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR BlueComment

Wash with Dawn dish soap before claying. It will remove all wax and polish on your car.Comment
