  • Cleaning Pads?

I just got a g110v2 buffer and am new to detailing by machine. Before I start, I'm just looking at a bunch of info so I have an easier first time with this machine.

Anyway, what I am confused about is what to do about switching products and using the same pad.

Say I just got done using UC on my polishing pad and want to follow up with DC polish using the same pad. What do I do? Can I just wipe the UC off with a towel or do I need to have seperate pads for these two products? Is the pad contaminated now and unusable with polishes?

Will using the same pad for a cleaner and polish give me not as good results?

Always change pads between different products. You don't want left over UC in with your polish. The new pads are washable, and after a good wash you can conceivably use them with another product, but following one product with another without assuring the previous product is completely out of the pad is asking for trouble. This problem is compounded when the products are of a completely different class.

I only have 1 soft buff 2.0 polishing pad which I will use for UC and SwirlX and 1 soft buff 2.0 finishing pad for DC polish and NXT 2.0 tech wax so would just rinsing the pad out suffice when switching products or do I need to run them through a washing machine?

It would be best to invest in another polishing pad or two or three. I recently purchased 3 polishing pads and 3 finishing pads. Now that I've used them I wish I would have purchased 4 or 5 polishing pads and 1 or 2 finishing pads. BTW, I have relatives in Sumter, SC.

Having just one of each pad is very limiting. We would recommend that, regardless of product used, during the paint cleaning stage you swap out to a fresh polishing pad at least twice during a detailing job. Even if you clean your pad on the fly, as you continue to add product to the pad and work around the vehicle the pad is going to start loading up with product. Swapping to a fresh pad a couple of times ensures a clean pad and a proper, consistent cut throughout the vehicle.

Waxing with a finishing pad only requires use of a single pad to cover the whole vehicle. But if you intend to machine apply a pure polish first and then wax, you'll want a couple of finishing pads.
