  • Meguiars m105/205 over a few days...

I do not have an entire day to devote to using m105/205 and applying a coat of wax. If I was to start part of the car today and finish on Saturday, would the panels that I do today be ok without wax for a few days?

Do you plan on driving the car?

I've spread out the M105 step over a few days before, the car never left the garage and before starting up again, wiped the panel down with 50/50 ISP solution.

I dont think it would hurt if you dont wax it.

But here is what you can do. Do a part of the car today, then on Saturday finish the whole car and give it a final pass with M205 then wax it to protect your work.

so here is what you'll be doing today:

      -Wash
      -Dry
      -Clay
-M105 (the part you can work in today)

      Then on saturday:

      -Wash
      -Dry
-M105 (on the rest of the car you couldn't work today.)
-Final pass over the entire car with M205

-Then a coat of Wax a good combo is M21 then a top of NXT 2.0

Yeah I plan on driving the car. It is my daily driver so I need a way to get to school.

I was planning on using NXT 2.0 and possibly topping it with Gold Class Carnauba Plus? I was able to score the gold class at Kmart for $6 per bottle. Would it even be worth the extra effort? The car is a milano red.

Thats ok if you top the NXT with the GC+ it gives a rich and wet color to dark cars.

Go ahead and always have fun while detailing.

It seems that m105 is drying before i'm done spreading it. I am priming the pads with water and spreading the wax on speeds 1-2. The polish turns into a dusty powder. The thing is it's still polishing out most of the scratches. Is this normal?

Using water to prime the pad is causing it to dry and dust quickly. Try using a quick detailer and mist the pad with one spray only, that should help.

There are a few ways to approach this, but one thing no matter which method you choose: you must wash or wipe down every single section you touch after every time you drive it.

You will accumulate dirt and dust, even if it is ever so slight, so you need to remove that before compounding, polishing or waxing.

That said, you could try doing the complete process of M105 --> M205 --> Wax on each panel, start to finish as you go. Then repeat on each panel after. This way you don't have to go back and work on the panels after driving.

Or, you could do it in steps, but then go back and wash/wipe the area before working on it again. Your call!
