  • Spot Reducing

While spot reducing doesn't work in dieting, it can work in detailing.

I was using Ultimate Quick Detailer on my car Saturday evening when I noticed a strange scuff mark on my rear bumper. It was about half the size of a dollar bill, looked like sole of a tennis shoe and had a three inch "tail" coming off of the main scuff mark.

I tried rubbing it with my finger, water and a microfiber-covered sponge, soapy water, more UQD and a microfiber towel (several times) and nothing affected it.

So, I got out the Ultimate Compound and a purple Meguiar's foam applicator pad and rubbed for 30 seconds or so. I even didn't try Swirl-X or Scratch-X because I've had such a difficult time getting those products to work on my minor swirls on this particular car (Mazda MX-5) even with a DA and working a long time. The "tail" part of it took another application of UC for a minute or so, but the mysterious mark disappeared totally, leaving a nice gloss, and very quickly. Afterwards I applied Gold Class carnauba wax.

Sorry, no before or after photos, but my spot reducing did work. I should be so lucky with other forms of spot reducing of the human body kind.

So your car was conveniently parked when someone walked by, notice their shoe was untied, and used it as a foot rest while they corrected the issue. Meaning you had an issue of your own to correct, which apparently you did nicely. Good for you.

Your process was spot on, and it's nice to see it worked out well for you.
