  • Gold Class Rich Leather cleaner

I just received an order of Meguiar's products (never used them in the past) which I had to order from the U.S, as I couldn't find everything I wanted here in Canada. One of the products is the rich leather cleaner/conditioner which I tried today. I didn't experience a big difference in the leather and was somewhat disappointed. Are most of you on this forum using this leather product or some other product that you may have found gives better results? I also tried the Odour Eliminator and the tire gel which I found to be fantastic!
    Your input is appreciated!

    Hey dougbthom

The gold class leather cleaner/conditioner is a mild cleaner with a safe cleaning action and isn't really going to do much to leather that you can see a day/night difference too to begin with or to leather thats needs something more then a one step leather cleaner/conditioner.

I use D103 all purpose cleaner+ and use it diluted 10:1 if not real dirty/nasty leather, just spray on leather seats it's self and used a soft brush and scrub lightly and then use a micro-fiber towle and wipe away the cleaner and all the dirt thats been remove.

Then apply your leather cleaner/conditioner or something like this.

or this, what I've been using with great results.

    Hope that helps!

      Hi Dougbthom,

I use the foam version of the leather cleaner/conditioner. It doesn't change the characteristics of the leather, however, it does a fair job cleaning and conditioning. You are probably expecting some degree of rejuvenation....from my experience the GC leather foam cleaner/conditioner doesn't rejuvenate the leather to a large degree and I assume the same would apply to the cream version.

      regards,
      MM

Automobile leather is "finished leather" and has a coating which is similar or may actual be vinyl. It absorbs nothing designed for leather. Just vacume the stitching, clean it with a mild soap and water and use any vinyl protectant on it. (READ THE LABEL) I have used Meguiars Conditioner on my saddles, and it is fine, but I feel it doesn't do anything on finished auto leather, except make it look "purdy" and shiny for a little while. . I use a non Meguairs protectant for my auto seats which leaves it like it just came of the assembly line.
It is possible your car does have tanned leather. Drop a drip of water on a seat. If is is absorbed after a minute, the leather is tanned. If it still sits there as a drop, your leather is finished, and does not absorb anything.

Thanks to all of you for the info. The leather in my vehicle is in excellent shape and what I was looking for is a product that will preserve it and keep it looking "alive". Thanks again for your help.
