    Hey guys...

I am going to order the essentials kit and it comes with #80 Speed Glaze. What will this do for me? Do you use it before waxing? Just wondering what it will do for a '96 Vette. Thanks for the info...

    Hi Ronnette,

#80 Speed Glaze is a mild cleaner/polish which is very rich in polishing oils like the #7 Show Car Glaze. It contains a special diminishing abrasive which gently abrades the finish to remove light swirls and scratches and after being worked for only a short period of time, these diminishing abrasive break down and polish their marks out leaving a very rich looking high gloss finish perfect for application of your choice of wax.

Because #80 Speed Glaze is rich in polishing oils it offers a long buffing time where the surface is always lubricated making it very safe to use. It's also very easy to wipe off.

#80 Speed Glaze is a very nice product I know your Corvette will love it.

      Hey Ronnette

You will LOVE #80 Speed Glaze! I use it on just about every finish I do. It works great with the rotary, PC or by hand. Plus, as Mike mentioned, you can really work it in with a PC.

Good Luck and keep us posted!

And...a very Merry Christmas from all of us on MOL!!! Have a great trip!!

If you were going to use one product from the 80s series with a rotary what would it be? From what I read I think that it would # 80, but I would like the opinion of the experts here.

So this would be used instead of #83?

Depends on the condition of the paint and your car care goals.

            Meguiar's always teaches,

"Always use the least aggressive product to get the job done"

Now that you have the G-100 and the essentials kit, for the Cleaning step, I would recommend trying the #80 Speed Glaze with a W-8006 foam pad on the 5.0 setting. Buff for 3-4 minutes an area about 16" square. Stop buffing and wipe off the residue and inspect in two kinds of light if possible. If it's looking good, then do the entire car and then apply wax.

If it's not removing as much of the swirls and scratches as you would like to see, then try a test section using the #83 DACP. After buffing the test section on the 5.0 setting with a dedicated pad, re-polish the same area with the #80 Speed Glaze and then wipe the residue from this step off and inspect again. Whatever results you see here will be about as good as you're going to get without using a rotary buffer.

The idea is to see if you can restore an acceptable finish using the least aggressive product.

Here's a suggestions, you might want to use a permanent marker to mark the back of your buffing pads with the product number you're using with them with a so you don't mix products on to different pads.

            Hope this helps...

              Hey Mike,

I just placed my order. Why is there tax in TX? I am in California, but I need all the stuff sent home. I will be in and out of TX, so I will be able to practice on 2 of my 3 cars.

                Hi Ronnette,

I'm not sure how taxes are figured but I'm sure someone in Customer Care can answer that question.

I've had great results using #80 to remove light swirls. What I like about the product is I can move on to a topper, usually NXT right after using this polish. Granted applying a pure polish and NXT might give a darker colored vehicle a wetter looking finish, #80 and NXT isn't a slouch by no means.

                  Good luck and happy holidays!

#80! really really really love it! I've stocked 3 gallons!

a good finishing touch after #83, or if the paint is still in good condition, can be applied by hand, the paintable polymers made me fall in love!

                    am I over reacting?
I wash and wash my car until the whole thing disappeared!

Add me to the list of #80 converts! Works great with a PC or by hand. It does a good job of swirl removal with the diminishing abrasives plus it adds the TS polishing oils. You can follow it directly with #26, MPPP or NXT Tech Wax. I was really surprised at how well it worked by hand. Now I can clean and polish my entire car with a single product!

thats what I was looking for, a all purpose cleaner polish that could be used on all but the really bad paint. it seems that # 80 will make a 2 step system instead of a 3 step system on most cars .

                            Hi Larry,

That is a tough one to answer as it always depends on the condition of the paint as well as its hardness. Some paint will be VERY hard and will require a product like #83 DACP to clean up even minor swirls. I have hit some that will only respond to #84 Compound Power Cleaner, a W-7006 Cutting Pad and a rotary spinning 1800 RPM!

But I still use #80 more often than other products!
