  • first time using G110v2 and swirl x

Today I used the G110v2 for the first time, and I did a few tests on the hood with swirl x and 205, what I want to know is this. I have to wait a week or so to get the Ultimate Compound and till there I am trying to get some experience with the D/A.

If you were to use a product like swirl x on the hood or any other section, how would you do it? Do I need to reapply product on the pad before each buff? Since the D/A is much stronger and fast than a hand, is there a problem to use swirl x 3 or 4 times over the same spot? how much pressure do I use?

You have to reapply before each buff but every other buff you should clean your pad on the fly. There is no problem with using Swirlx 3 or 4 times on the same spot because if the defects are still there then no paint is being removed. Good luck!

how do I use the D/A on trick places? you know small indentations and places where I cannot have the D/A all flat, just part of it.

Oh, I also want to to know how do I know when it is time to change the pad, I mean people say it is not good to do the entire car with the same pad, but when do I replace it?

You can always clean your pad(s) on the fly:

I did this today, what I want to know is if after cleaning it like 10 or 15 times will it still be safe to use and get the job done.

It doesn't become unsafe, it simply gets loaded up with product and becomes less effective. Have you ever tried painting a wall with a roller that had way too much paint on the roller? The roller won't even roll, it will slide up and down the wall and basically just smear the paint. If you think about this from the aspect of the DA polisher, your polishing pad will basically be floating and smearing product around rather than having any sort of cutting action.

If you haven't watched this video yet, it's great.

You mean cleaning the pad 10 ir 15 times? If I am understanding correctly, then the pad should be perfectly safe to use. You should switch to a new pad when the one you are using becomes saturated with product. I know that when Tuck does his write-ups on the details he does, he always states the number of pads he used and he said that he used six W8207 pads on a dump truck one time. Its really a judgement call.

Great video! really helped me a lot!! xD

Now hey, I used two pads today, a 8006 and a 8207, one of them I put in the wash machine, but the other one I simply did a final "clean on the fly" .. is there a way to completely cleaning it?

I think a good way to clean them good by hand would be to put them into a Glad/Ziploc/Rubbermaid food container with a lid. Fill it with water and a bit of car washing soap. Shake it up good, dump the mess and repeat a few times. The last few times I would use clean water (no soap).

Here is a thread on pad cleaning. There are lots of good suggestions.

Try not to mix products and pads. For now you'll have to be patient. Do one panel at a time. This will give you time to evaluate your process and ask questions while your pads dry.

Thanks, I' ll try to clean it now.

haha I did a mess today, the hood has an indentation on the sides and I tried to pass the D/A there, the thing is the machine would have to be "halfway out of the paint" and I didn't "clean" the pad (I was cleaning every tree or four passes) and I had a surprise, that white dust flying all over.

I spend like the rest of the day cleaning those white dots out of the paint and the front glass.
