  • What's the difference between the two?

I picked up a spray bottle of Meguiar's Natural Shine Protectant and used it on my wife's 2008 Solstice GXP on dash and other interior areas. I like the natural finish as it gives you less sun reflection in your eyes.
    The stuff worked great.

Anyway, I was reading the forums and a lot of posts talk about Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant that by the looks of the bottle is a liquid paste. Is there a difference in the two?

We also used Gold Class Rich Leather Wipes on the leather seats and wow, what a great shine.

Thanks for the help, although I am new to posting on the forums, I have been reading them and using Meguiar's products for years.

Ultimate Protectant can be used on the exterior and interior, while the Natural Shine is best suited for interiors. Ultimate Protectant will be slightly more glossy than Natural Shine IMO.

Both are great products and either one of them will work well for your interior.

Natural Shine is a water based dressing that leaves, as the name implies, a natural finish appearance on interior surfaces. It also contains ScotchGuard to prevent stains from setting in and makes subsequent cleaning easier. It should be applied and allowed to sit for a few minutes, then any excess should be wiped off with a clean microfiber or terry towel. It will dry completely dry to the touch. The sister product to Natural Shine is Supreme Shine, essentially a higher gloss version of the same product. While either can be used on exterior surfaces they won't survive through a strong rain, or possibly even a thorough car wash. Such is the nature of water based dressings.

Except for Ultimate Protectant. UP is also water based, but it's also polymer fortified (for lack of a better term) so it actually dries and bonds to the surface similar to how wax bonds to your paint. It dries very quickly and will remain dry to the touch. It can also last through several car washings and/or rain exposure. It's shine level is maybe a little higher than Natural Shine but not quite as high as Supreme Shine. Application is a little different here - you'll be best served using a foam wax applicator pad and really working it against the surface. A little goes a long way so don't load it on. You should not have any excess product to wipe off later on; wipe it on, work it in very thoroughly and walk away. It will dry completely in a matter of minutes.

        Mike,

do Natural Shine and Supreme Shine have any cleaning ability? Similar to M40?

I think I remember on the really old bottle of Natural Shine saying that it did.

Their cleaning ability is very minimal, definitely not on par with M40.
