  • scratch x - how much will a tube do?

ive had one of my vehicles (also a coupe) washed clayed and its been masked up ready for paint perfection... i believe the paint is quite hard and i'd like to use scratch x by hand. I've read through these forums and am confident on how long to rub scratch x into the paint to get the best results but im curious to know if 1 tube is enough? does it spread liberally or am i best to get another tube or 2 to do the whole car ?

    thx

    Hi SprintKing,

ScratchX spreads liberally, but what's more of a factor is how severe or how deep your swirls and scratches are and thus how many applications it will require in each area to remove the defects by leveling the paint.

If it were just a matter of applying the product to the entire surface of your car's finish, then one tube would be enough. But as you have probably read in this article,

How to remove a defect by hand with ScratchX

It often times requires more than one application to remove enough paint to remove the defects. If your worst sections are the horizontal panels and the sides of the car are in pretty good condition, then you may be able to do the entire car with one tube.

We'll be interested to hear back when your finished how many applications you applied and whether or not you were able to clean the finish with just one tube.

Best of luck and have fun...
