    Re: Rain-X??

I always found it hard to apply and remove, but the stuff does work and last.

I suggest you use Ultimate Quik Detailer or Ultimate Quik Wax on your windows instead. They both work wonders, if not better than rainX.

Rain-X is awesome stuff. The key to getting it off is using a damp towel to remove it. If you use a dry towel, you will end up with a hazy film. Damp is the way to go. It is as easy as cleaning your windows this way.

I've never used UQW on my windows before, but I can say Rain-X lasts a long time. I applied a coat of it several weeks ago and it is working the same as it did on day one.

RainX is solid for the price, just dont remove it follwoing the directions. Always a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth.

I apply RainX every so often, then use UQD/UQW over the glass in between after a wash.

Rain-X works, but it was never one of my favorite products. I found it hard to work with and for me it never lasted very long. UQD and UQW are definitely easier to use and they work great!

As someone else said, the trick is to remove with a damp (not wet) cloth. Otherwise, it will swirl forever. Does last a long time, though.

Best tool I've used to remove Rain X is a damp sponge... the small, thin, palm-sized ones you might use to scrub out the bathtub. Then buff with a MF and it's clear as glass. Um.. probably because it is glass!

I've been experimenting with UQW around the house. Since Johson Wax discontinued Jubilee Kitchen Polish I've been using UQW on appliances. Makes bathroom mirrors shine and splatter no longer sticks. Gave it a shot on the house windows after cleaning and it works nice there and they seem to stay cleaner longer. It works nice on glass but doesn't have near the longevity of Rain X. Rain X on vehicle glass is the ticket. Easy to use if you read and follow the directions.

I've tried both and have not had good luck with either...

After reading this board, I used UQD the other day on my clean windows and wiped it with my SS microfiber, then turned it over and wiped it again and it ended up with an ever-so-slight haze . (And I'm one of those crazy people who needs a crystal clear windsheild, especially at night or when I'm facing the sun ) I love UQD for the paint, but not such good luck on the glass.

I have had good success with RainX. As with any other product if you follow the directions you should have good success. However RainX can cause wiper skipping or chatter. I have used Aquapel with good results and it lasts longer. I found UQD to leave a film that would accumulate at the end of the wiper stroke. On side and rear windows UQD or UQW work very well.
